CD Numancia player, Julio Álvarez has been awarded the prize for 'Best Player in the 2013-14 Liga Adelante' in the '2014 LFP Awards Ceremony', a distinction that recognises him as the most complete footballer in the division last season as per the technical statistics provided by Media Coach, a video analysis tool that studies the players of the 42 clubs of the LFP, developed by Mediapro.
The Spanish-Venezuelan footballer was the standard bearer for the Soria club, who he helped secure survival in the Liga Adelante with two matchdays to go, with figures that very few players are able to achieve. Álvarez completed more passes than any other player in the division, with 2,830 finding a team-mate, with an accuracy of 70.6 percent. He also provided 15 goal assists in the 41 games he played wearing the Numancia colours.
The 33-year-old midfielder also performed as a goal-scorer, finding the net seven times. His exquisite strike brought him several beautifully crafted goals, including three from direct free kicks and a sensational goal from the corner flag.
"I'd like to thank La Liga for inviting me to this ceremony. I'd like to
congratulate all the nominees and the winners. The award belongs to last
season's team and a lot of people who work at the small team that is CD
Numancia. This award is for them. I'd like to thank my family for their
unconditional support. I'd like to dedicate it to my brother Javi and to the
people who accompany me at the club. I cannot forget about football and my
children. Thank you."
