Mexico is all set to host a dream game between a team of legendary Mexican players and one of FC Barcelona legends, at Queretaro's Estadio Corregidora, which is just one of the global events, along with those taking place in Miami (USA), Beijing and Shanghai (China), organised by LaLiga ahead of el Clasico.
The match, which is played under the name Movistar Legends and aims to take LaLiga football to all four corners of the planet, will be played on Friday 1 April at 19:30 (local time) and will be attended by two Liga BBVA ambassadors. Former Barça midfielder, Gaizka Mendieta, will join the FC Barcelona Legends' team, whilst former Real Madrid man, Christian Karembeu, will watch the game from the stands alongside another of his Bernabeu teammates, Savio Bortolini.
Under the watchful eyes of hundreds of Mexican fans, 36 former footballers will return to the game for this auspicious occasion. Amongst them, players of the calibre of Vitor Baia, Ronald de Boer, Jari Litmanen and Hristo Stoichkov, who will be captained by another Barça legend, Jose Mari Bakero. Their opponents will be led by Mexico's emblematic keeper, Jorge Campos, in a team that will include Ramon Ramirez, Jared Borgetti, Daniel Osorno, Miguel Angel Cepeda and Martin 'the Octopus' Zúñiga, amongst others.
As a prelude to the legends' game, the stars of both teams took part, this Thursday, in a footballing workshop at Mexico City's Ibero-American University, during which they delighted young fans with no end of memorable dribbles, saves and set pieces.
