R. Valladolid CF are now two points away from automatic promotion to the Liga BBVA following the 1-5 win against RCD Mallorca in La Liga Adelante’s Sunday morning fixture.
The Balearic Islanders, who had yet to lose in 2015, started the match well, in the fourth minute, Marco Asensio took advantage of a long pass from Fofo and beat Javi Varas at the left post. However, Valladolid composed themselves and practically sealed the game between the 18th and 27th minute. Jonathan Pereira, scored twice, the first was a great goal, and both came following passes from Johan Mojica. Those goals turned the score around before the Colombian scored Valladolid’s third following an assist from Pereira himself.
Although Cristian Bustos could have put Mallorca back into the game with a shot that hit the crossbar in the dying seconds of the first quarter, Valladolid made it 1-4 immediately after the break. Again, the star of the matinee show was Pereira, who showed no mercy inside the six-yard box to Jesús Cabrero, who let in his first goals of 2015 in the game. With the match decided, Óscar Díaz made it 1-5 following an assist from Pereira. In the final minutes, Mallorca made a last ditch effort, and could have reduced the deficit but were stopped by the post and Varas.
