Joan Garcia, LALIGA EA SPORTS Best Save for February

Joan Garcia has received the LALIGA EA SPORTS Best Save award for February. The goalkeeper of RCD Espanyol de Barcelona was once again a saviour for his team during the last month with his saves, and he stood out especially in this match against Real Sociedad with a foot save on a low shot that prevented the Basque team from scoring.

It was the 18th minute of the game and Espanyol were already losing 1-0 at the Reale Arena. Luka Sučić found a gap between the visiting defence and found himself alone in front of Joan Garcia, but the goalkeeper responded like a real wall, standing firm against the shot that seemed decisive and clearing the ball over the goal with his foot. Espanyol managed to equalise but were unable to take a positive result from San Sebastián, as Brais Méndez's goal near the end gave the locals a 2-1 win.

Espanyol's number 1 has thus won the Best LALIGA EA SPORTS Save of the Season award for the first time this season after beating Thibaut Courtois in the final vote for his great save against CA Osasuna and Paulo Gazzaniga, who also made a hugely creditable save in his team's match against Athletic Club. Joan Garcia succeeds Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera, who won the trophy in January.
