A total of 47 international broadcasters came together for a workshop organised by LaLiga at MEDIAPRO headquarters in Barcelona, with LaLiga president Javier Tebas, Melcior Soler, the director of LaLiga's audiovisual department, MEDIAPRO founding partner Tatxo Benet and former footballer and current beIN Sports commentator Jorge Valdano in attendance.
The LaLiga president stated, "We aren't only working on keeping our place as the best league in the world, but also to build the best TV product" and emphasised the forward steps that have been taken for the 2016/17 season. "We set ourselves the target of improving our audiovisual product alongside MEDIAPRO. We're in an extremely competitive world. LaLiga had to start down the path to improving the product, our broadcasts and the way our clubs are involved," continued Tebas, who stressed the importance of major developments in television broadcasting in Spain such as 360-degree and aerial cameras.
MEDIAPRO founding partner Tatxo Benet added, "LaLiga is now a product that reaches every corner of the globe," and focused on the hard work carried out so far which has resulted in "an improved TV product, especially in the last three years."
Members of staff from various LaLiga departments took their places at the event to showcase their work in the areas of communication, intellectual property, piracy and audiovisual content, all of which has seen LaLiga become a role model on the international stage. The representatives from the broadcasting companies, who descended on Barcelona from across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, were willing listeners as they learned all about the improvements which were rolled out ahead of the new season.
In the words of Tebas, "Regulations have been passed in relation to the state that the stadiums must be in for broadcasting and we've improved the way we involve our clubs. We monitor aspects such as the state of the pitch and lighting to ensure that the broadcast images are perfect. Not only are we making improvements to the product in terms of how it's broadcast, but we've also taken steps to protect the product and to fight against piracy from both legal and technological angles, whilst seeking to raise public awareness through our communications."
The event enabled LaLiga to present some of the new elements and improvements made to its broadcasting for this season, which are part of the organisation's continued quest to innovate and enhance the fan experience. In his presentation, which was the last of the day, Valdano sounded a reminder that, "success is a collective achievement and when it's accomplished it's important that everyone is allowed to share in it."
