LaLiga held an event in Singapore on Monday together with representatives of Asia's international broadcasters prior to the inauguration of the LaLiga stand at Sportel Asia. The event included the presence of Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, Miguel Angel Navarro, the Spanish ambassador to Singapore, Layhoon Chan, the president of Valencia CF, Fernando Sanz, LaLiga’s director for the Middle East and for international projects, Christian Karembeu, a Liga BBVA ambassador, and Shen Yanfie, the European table tennis champion and the representative of the Champions of Spain event which forms part of the LFP World Challenge programme.
The president of LaLiga thanked the broadcasters for "the trust that you have placed in our product. We will keep working so that things go well for all of us,” and he explained that "for LaLiga, the broadcasters are not our customers, they are our partners, and that’s why if things go well for them, they go well for us, and vice versa."
The Spanish ambassador, meanwhile, underscored the work of Javier Tebas at the helm of LaLiga, describing him as "a man of vision, who has brought Spanish football into the 21st century within the context of this globalised world which we are building." Miguel Angel Navarro further added that “since the arrival of Javier Tebas, LaLiga has positioned itself in the world, has managed to bring club finances into order, and is working to eradicate violence from football.”
Layhoon Chan, the president of Valencia, assured that "Asia is a very important market for both the club and for LaLiga" and highlighted that through the work of Javier Tebas, "LaLiga is heading in the right direction in this regard.”
LaLiga will be one of the main protagonists on the opening day of the Sportel Asia convention, which will be held in Singapore between 15 and 17 March. The Shangri-La Hotel will host the biggest competitions and the most-renowned sporting institutions in the world in what will be the most prestigious global sports convention. With its presence at the latest edition of Sportel, LaLiga consolidates its position as a global brand alongside others such as the NBA and NFL, the big European leagues such as the Bundesliga, and other international organisations such as the International Olympics Committee.
