Rayo dominates
First half had a clear dominant: Rayo Vallecano. Paco Jemez’s team took control of the match from the start, which was reflected on the score. With 2-0 and the feeling that they could have scored more goals, they got to the break in Vallecas.
Javi Guerra, synonym of goal
The Rayo Vallecano striker was the player in charge of putting the victory on track for the Madrid team in the first half. In the third minute, Javi Guerra opened the score in the Estadio de Vallecas and only seven minutes afterwards, he put the ball in the back of the net again. Two goals in 10 minutes by this player, that has already scored eight goals this season.
Rayo, down to 10
In the 19th minute, Ze Castro saw his second yellow card and was sent off. Rayo Vallecano played the rest of the game with 10 players on the pitch, although the game dynamic didn’t change and the Madrid team kept dominating.
Granada reaction
After the half-time break, Granada changed the script. Sandoval’s side started to put pressure on and in the 53rd minute, Babin would score with a header to reduce the difference. From that moment onwards, equality was fixed on the match.
Andalusian final
Granada insisted until the end, but they didn’t get any reward from it. During the second half the roles changed and as the minutes went by the Andalusians started to believe in the comeback. Such was the case that Granada harassed Rayo in the final 15 minutes and was close to drawing in several occasions, but the final scored showed 2-1 for the local team.
