The Liga de Fútbol Profesional paid tribute this Monday to the stars of the 2013-14 season in the LFP Awards Ceremony. The 42 clubs of the Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante received their prizes in an unforgettable ceremony for the big Spanish football family.

On 26 occasions the Auditorium Príncipe Felipe was filled with applause in appreciation of the best of last season in each category, selected by their colleagues. The three captains of each club voted for the 'Best Player' in each line and 'Best Manager' of their division.

The selection could not include players from their own team, or their own manager. Once the votes were collected the nominees were designated according to the number of votes received.

The managers were responsible for selecting the 'Breakthrough Player' of the 2013-14 season in their divisions. The head coaches voted on the basis of four criteria laid down by the LFP:

- The selected footballer must be aged under 24 (born after 1 January 1989).

- He must be uncapped for his country.

- The current season, when the voting took place, is the first in which the footballer has

played more than 10 games in the top division of any country.

- The manager cannot vote for a member of the same club.

The 'Best Goal in the Liga' was selected by LFP.es users who, from July to 17 October, and in conjunction with two experts in Axel Torres and Julio Maldonado 'Maldini', were able to vote on the LFP website for their favourite goal of the championship. The two journalists selected the ten goals that they believed to be the best of the Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante in the 2013-14 season and, from this initial selection, football fans cast their votes for each competition.

The prizes for 'Best African Player' and 'Best American Player' in the two divisions were also awarded by popular vote. Once again, it was LFP.es users who, with just a click of the mouse, were able to choose the most complete footballer from the two continents after viewing a video on the website with their best moments of the season. Voting opened on 20 August and closed on Friday 17 October.

The team and player 'Fair Play' prizes were awarded by Aficiones Unidas thanks to the collaboration between the 42 clubs of the LFP and their supporters.
