UD Las Palmas and CD Tenerife drew 1-1 in the Canary Island derby in matchday 27 of Liga Adelante. The result means the Yellows are top of the table with 52 points, while Tenerife remain 17th on 29.
The Estadio de Gran Canaria hosted a hotly contested derby. The visitors went close initially after Suso Santana sent a volley wide after nine minutes. However from then on, Las Palmas started to dominate and they enjoyed the best chances in the remainder of the first period. Tenerife keeper, Dani Hernández, kept his side in it, producing a stunning reflex stop from a Culio effort, while he also kept out a goal bound free kick from Nauzet Alemán.
The second half started with two blows for the home side, with Jonathan Viera coming off injured and Maxi Pérez put the visitors ahead after stealing the ball and beating Casto Espinosa. Not withstanding, the Gran Canaria outfit reacted quickly, and Hernán Santana fired in an unstoppable effort to level things up on 51. This made both sides take risks as they sought the victory, however they could not find a winner and the final whistle blew with the score line at 1-1.
