Granada climb table at expense of Elche

Granada CF won the clash between direct challengers in the league against Elche CF on the 29th matchday of the Liga BBVA. The 1-0 result will give peace of mind to the nazaríes, who have some respite at the expense of the Alicante province team, who will have to win in the coming weeks to avoid a difficult end to the season.

The first half was fairly uneventful, with few chances for either side. The two teams alternated on the ball and the first half ended with a shot from Youssef El Arabi that went over the bar. Granada went back down the tunnel feeling that they deserved more and they put matters right after the break, when they went out onto the field with more intensity.

Although it was Elche who had most of the chances to take the lead, the electric attack of the Andalusians had several attempts on the counter-attack until Yacine Brahimi opened the scoring after a mistake from Fran Escribá's side. Fran Rico had an opportunity to seal the match from the penalty spot minutes later, but the shot went out and the nazaríes had to hang on until the final whistle.
