Gio keeps growing

Giovani dos Santos is El Madrigal's latest hero. His goals have helped the Yellows climb up to fourth position on its return to the Liga BBVA. The Villarreal CF striker has become a goal machine for Marcelino García Toral's team in the first part of the season.

His goals against Valencia on matchday 10 of the Liga BBVA helped the Mexican equal his best goal-scoring season since he arrived in Spain. Also, having found the net six times, Gio is Villarreal's top goal-scorer ahead of Jérémy Perbet, Cani and Ikechukwu Uche, who have two each.

In his first season in Spain he wore the colours of FC Barcelona B and scored six goals, a feat he equalled at RCD Mallorca in the 2012/13 season in the Liga BBVA. Now he can set his sights much higher. In just ten matches he has equalled his record and he has 28 matches in which to keep amounting goals.
