The post stopped Getafe
The Madrid team started taking the leading role, with the possession of the ball and approaching the rivals’ box. The home side could have got ahead in the 16th minute in a one on one between Alvaro Vazquez and Pau Lopez, but the striker missed. Later, it was the woodwork what avoided the first goal after Juan Rodriguez’s header to a corner kick.
Espanyol hit first
Despite Getafe’s great start, it was the Catalan side who were able to open the score at Coliseum Alfonso Perez. In the 26th minute, a left side cross was buried into the back of the net by Hernan Perez with a great header putting the away side in front.
Excellent home reply
Getafe’s reaction to conceding couldn’t have been better for their interests. Three minutes afterwards Pedro Leon equalized after Victor smashed the crossbar and the Murcia midfielder dribbled inside the box.
Sarabia
The Madrid midfielder is having an outstanding season with Getafe. Always creative and willing to produce plays, Sarabia was the man to turn the tables and score the 2-1 in the 37th minute. This is his fifth goal of the season, he’s best record in the Liga BBVA.
Resistance and sentence
Espanyol never gave up. They fought until the final whistle to try and change things, but Getafe showed excellent defensive strength to avoid it and maintained their advantage. Galca’s men had a golden chance to rescue a point in a strike by Enzo Roco which Juan Rodriguez saved on the goal line. During stoppage time, Moi Gomez sealed the victory scoring the final 3-1.
