Getafe CF claimed a 1-0 victory over Málaga in the first clash of the Sunday on matchday 6 of the Liga BBVA. Thanks to the solo effort from Míchel Herrero, the Azulones got back to winning ways after suffering three consecutive defeats in the championship.
After a very tight start to the game, with the two teams alternating on the ball, it was Getafe that began to take the initiative and create the first chances. A tame shot from Míchel and a Diego Castro strike inside the area, deflected by Carlos Kameni, were the first danger signs from the Madrid side. The Azulones’ best moments finally found their reward, with Míchel himself putting the home team ahead in the 25th minute after receiving a great pass from Abdoul Karim Yoda and beating Kameni with his left foot.
Jorge Sammir, who went on the field in place of Babá Diawara, added verticality and danger to the Getafe attack in the second half. Alongside him, Pablo Sarabia also played a leading role in slowing the game down and adding a touch of quality when needed. Málaga looked for the draw until the dying moments, but Cosmin Contra’s men were able to defend their lead.
