Germán Lux (Carcarañá, Argentina, 1982), RC Deportivo's keeper, has won the 'Best Goalkeeper in the 2013-14 Liga Adelante' award, receiving the trophy at the '2014 LFP Awards Ceremony'. The Argentine beat Xabi Irureta (SD Eibar) and Jordi Masip (FC Barcelona B) to the accolade with his superb saves.
The keeper's nerveless season with Deportivo was one of the keys to the promotion of the Blanquiazules. His skill in one-on-ones, like all good Argentinian keepers, is one of his trump cards. Germán Lux was a permanent fixture between the sticks last season for the Galician side.
It is no coincidence that of his greatest achievements, one will always be remembered at the Riazor. During the match his team played against Real Zaragoza, Lux went down in the club's history by beating Dani Aranzubía's record of 415 minutes without conceding a goal, a record for the Galician team in the twenty-first century. The South American shot-stopper set a new record against the team from Aragon by playing 460 minutes without conceding a single goal after the one he let in against Real Sporting de Gijón on Liga Adelante matchday five.
It is hard to find enough superlatives to describe a player who, after coming through a difficult injury in 2012, had one of the best seasons of his career. At 32 years of age, the keeper from Carcarañá promises many more spectacular afternoons in Spanish football in what will be his ninth season in the country.
"It's a pleasure to be here, sharing such moments with figures from Spanish and world football. I want to thank everyone who voted for this prize, and to share it with my family and with my teammates last year", said Germán Lux, RC Deportivo player.
