- Ilaix Moriba was born on 19 January 2003 in the Guinean capital, Conakry, to a Guinean mother and a Liberian father. The Barça ace arrived in Spain at a young age and was granted Spanish nationality. It wasn’t long before his silky skills saw him catch the eye.
- The first club to show an interest were RCD Espanyol and it was for the Pericos that he played his first competitive games. However, Moriba would go on to join the FC Barcelona academy in 2010 at the tender age of seven. He’s since progressed up the ranks and is now a member of the first-team squad.
- Moriba’s belter against CA Osasuna saw him become the fifth-youngest player to score for the club’s first team, aged 18 years and 46 days. Another fascinating fact is that he’s the youngest LaLiga Santander player to have found the net from outside the box this term.
- Moriba made his LaLiga Santander debut shortly after his 18th birthday, on Matchday 23 of the current campaign, when Ronald Koeman handed him a starting berth in the home clash against Deportivo Alaves. The talented youngster completed 64 minutes and provided an assist for Leo Messi as the Catalan giants cruised to a 5-1 win.
- Besides his obvious on-field talents, Moriba is a qualified barber, men’s and women’s hairdresser and image consultant.
