- Iago Aspas was born on 1 August 1987 and grew up in a family passionate about football. His older brother, Jonathan, joined RC Celta in same year as Iago, but in a different category.
- His cunning extends beyond the field of play, having claimed to be nine years old instead of eight to gain access to the trials organised by RC Celta. Inflating his age, together with his superb skills and great potential, saw his dream of forming part of the club come true.
- He made his debut at Balaidos against Deportivo Alaves on 6 June 2009. It was a dream day for the academy graduate, who came off the bench in the 59th minute and made a decisive contribution, netting twice in 14 minutes to secure victory and avoid relegation from LaLiga SmartBank.
- His knack for finding the back of the net established him as the top scoring Spaniard in LaLiga Santander in the 2016/17, 2017/81 and 2018/19 seasons. He has also produced five hat-tricks in his professional career, three of them in the Spanish top flight.
- Due to his quality, commitment and dedication, the striker is known to many fans as the ‘Magician of Moaña’ or the ‘Prince of the Mussel Rafts’.
