Albacete B. - R. Valladolid CF (12 noon, Carlos Belmonte)
Albacete B., who are bottom of the Liga Adelante, face third-placed R. Valladolid CF. For the home side, a victory could enable them to climb out of the relegation zone, while for Valladolid the three points would keep them in the fight for the promotion spots.
The Albacete manager, Luis César Sampedro, praised his opponents but was optimistic about the fixture: “They’re one of the best squads, they play very good football and I think it will be a very nice game. We can stand up to anyone.”
Girona FC – CD Mirandés (5 pm, Montilivi Municipal Stadium)
With 20 points in nine matchdays, Girona FC are alone at the top of the Liga Adelante. They will face CD Mirandés, who with half the number of points that the Catalans have will aim for an upset at the division leader’s ground.
“The most important thing for us after three defeats in a row away from home is to improve our form on the road. It will be a tough game; we’ll have to work hard against a great team”, said Carlos Terrazas, the Mirandés manager.
R. Sporting – At. Osasuna (5 pm, El Molinón Stadium)
The only unbeaten team in the division, R. Sporting, welcome At. Osasuna to their ground. The Rojillos go into the game off the back of a last-gasp victory against CD Tenerife that will have boosted their morale.
For Abelardo, the Asturian side’s manager, it is a very important game: “It’s a historic club like ours, a great team that hasn’t started well but no doubt they’ll be up there”. Osasuna’s manager Jan Urban analysed his opponents: “They know what they have to do and how to play. I look at their squad and it impresses me”.
CD Lugo – UE Llagostera (5 pm, Ángel Carro Stadium)
The clash between CD Lugo and UE Llagostera will be Lluís Carrillo’s first game in charge of the Catalan club after the dismissal of Santi Castillejo. Lugo are five points ahead of Llagostera, who are in the relegation zone.
Quique Setién, the Lugo manager, talked about his opponents and how they have developed: “They have changed a bit since the first few matchdays; they’re bolder opponents now, not so defensive. They have players with a lot of experience in this division”.
AD Alcorcón – R. Zaragoza (6.15 pm, Santo Domingo)
AD Alcorcón will want to end R. Zaragoza’s good run of six matchdays without a loss (four wins and two draws) that has enabled the Aragonese side to climb to seventh place, four points behind the leader.
The Zaragoza manager, Víctor Muñoz, underlined how difficult this encounter will be: “The intensity and aggression of the opposition will make it a tough match against Alcorcón”.
CD Tenerife – FC Barcelona B (7 pm, Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium)
After three consecutive defeats, CD Tenerife will want to get back to winning ways and climb out of the relegation zone. They face an FC Barcelona B who go into the game off the back of a 4-1 thumping of Alcorcón.
According to Eusebio Sacristán, the Azulgrana reserve team’s manager, his players enjoy going up against a team with such a rich history in Spanish football. “We normally do well at the grounds of historic clubs, where our players are motivated”.
CD Numancia - CD Leganés (9 pm, Los Pajaritos Stadium)
Matchday 10 of the Liga Adelante comes to a close with the game between CD Numancia and CD Leganés. Asier Garitano’s side go into the game off the back of a victory over Betis, while the home side have not won in four matchdays since they beat Albacete in round 5.
Garitano emphasised the virtues of his opponents: “They are a very competitive team with a clear game plan, very strong in their direct play and strategy. They have played against all the top teams; they have been in the mix in every game”.
