Sunday has a lot to live up to after four excitement-packed thrillers were served up by the Liga BBVA on Saturday.

FC Barcelona continues its one hundred per cent record this season with a 4-1 win in the Camp Nou over Real Valladolid CF, who threatened an upset with Javi Guerra's goal. However, outstanding performances from Alexis Sánchez and Neymar deprived the White and Violets of an expected win.

The league's third place team, Real Madrid CF, had to dig much deeper to overcome a Levante UD who did not give up easily. The team from Valencia surely thought it had done enough for three points with a goal from Nabil El Zhar putting the side ahead with four minutes left on the clock and 2-1 on the scoreboard, but Real Madrid pulled off a miracle comeback with two injury-time goals.

Having recorded its first Liga BBVA win in 24 years last week, Elche CF made it two in a row by beating RCD Espanyol who are now looking back on three consecutive defeats. Ferrán Corominas 'Coro', who used to play for the Catalonian club, was the architect of the win over Javier Aguirre's side, as he found the net twice for the Ilicitanos.

Finally, in a clash between two sides who had not won since their first league matches, it was Rayo
Vallecano who returned to winning ways by beating Real Sociedad de Fútbol. Both the team from Vallecas, who hit the woodwork twice, and the White and Blues had chances to score, but the deadlock was not broken until the 89th minute when Jonathan Viera converted a penalty to tip the balance in Rayo's favour.

Saturday's matches:
Elche CF - RCD Espanyol 2-1
Rayo Vallecano - Real Sociedad 1-0
Levante UD - Real Madrid 2-3
FC Barcelona - Real Valladolid CF 4-1

Friday's matches:
Villarreal CF - Granada CF 3-0
Málaga CF - CA Osasuna 0-1
