Evan Dimas has made steady progress on the comeback trail. The RCD Espanyol doctors have removed the cast from the midfielder's arm and he is now only sporting protective strapping. He is expected to be given the all-clear to return to full training alongside his Espanyol B teammates shortly. Until then, he continues to perform solo drills as part of a tailored regimen.
Dimas has been taking advantage of the final stages of his recovery process to further immerse himself in the Catalan capital and get to know some iconic sights he had not visited previously. For example, yesterday he went to the Pavelló de la Mar Bella, the venue that played host to a milestone achievement in Indonesian sports history. It was here that the country won five badminton medals at the Barcelona 1992 Olympics: two golds, one silver and one bronze.
The next stop after this journey down memory lane to the best Olympic Games in history was a stroll down the legendary Rambla, one of the most charismatic streets in the Catalan capital, with its fusion of indelible local flavour and the touristy side of Barcelona.
Dimas is the first player selected to take part in the LaLiga Global project, which promotes activities to develop LaLiga's international brand, including supporting stand-out local footballers from various different countries by giving them an opportunity to hone their skills in the best possible environment.
Through this project, LaLiga is aiming to support the development of young talents in several countries throughout the world, while placing special emphasis on future gems. Dimas is the first of many players who will participate and visit different major clubs in Spain to get to know their working methods.
