Matchday 2 in La Liga came to a close with a draw, and overall a very even match, between Elche CF and Granada CF.
It was an action-packed first half in the Martínez Valero stadium. Both teams looked to attack, which made for a pulsating 45 minutes. The clearest chances fell to strikers Garry Mendes Rodrigues and El Arabi, though neither was able to capitalize. The home side's striker had a one-on-one with Roberto Fernández, but the keeper pulled off an impressive stop to keep it at 0-0. Just as impressive was Enzo Roco's last ditch defending, clearing the ball when El Arabi's shot was about to cross the line.
After half time, the game remained even and open. Joaquín Caparrós' side looked like they might go ahead from a Fran Rico shot, but a magnificent save from Tyton kept the scores level. Elche continued to press, and though they failed to create many chances, they continued to give a good account of themselves. The match remained intense until the final moments, when Fran Rico latched onto a though ball from Isaac Success to make it 1-0. But defender David Lombán headed home an equalizer soon after, leaving it 1-1 at the final whistle.
