SD Eibar's first matchday as part of #LaLigaWorld was a complete success. Huge swathes of fans from different corners of the United States, including members of the Peña Eibar USA and the New York Eusko Etxea (Basque Club), were in attendance at the Richard Wackar Stadium to witness their team's debut on American soil.

It was the first ever opportunity for many of them to get a glimpse of the Basque outfit live, which was the case for Jorge Aguirre, a member of the New York Eusko Etxea, who revealed that he was "very excited" to be able to watch a club from his homeland in action, despite being so far from home.

The hosts took an early lead through Brian Davis, but Borja Baston levelled the match on the stroke of half-time with a fine finish. Jose Luis Mendilibar's troops dominated and spurned several chances to go in front after the interval, but a string of fine saves by the Philadelphia Fury goalkeeper Chase Clement denied Eibar victory in their first fixture in the United States.

Eibar coach Jose Luis Mendilibar made sure to thank fans who had travelled from far and wide to be at the Richard Wackar Stadium. "Many have been on long journeys to be here, which we thank them for." Winger Ander Capa added, "We took to the pitch full of desire as always and wanted to enjoy our football, but just couldn't get the winner." His teammate Borja Baston, meanwhile, looked ahead to the next challenge: "I hope we can round off the year with a win, especially after the good season we've had."

The Basque outfit's final stop is Las Vegas, where they will bring their #LaLigaWorld tour to a close at the Sam Boyd Stadium against the New York Cosmos, a historic footballing giant in the United States with seven National American Soccer League titles to their name. The game against the team led by Venezuelan midfielder Juan Arango, a former LaLiga star, will conclude what has been an impressive campaign for Eibar.
