To mark the FC Barcelona v Real Madrid game on 2 April, LaLiga will be running a number of events – as they did for the reverse fixture back in November – making it possible to enjoy the match in a very special way. Queretaro, Mexico City, Miami, Shanghai and Beijing will be hosting a range of activities to give supporters an #ElClasico experience to remember.
We are teaming up with the relevant LaLiga international broadcasters in Mexico City, Miami, Shanghai and Beijing so that the fans in these places can get together and watch the match in a buzzing atmosphere.
Each of these events will be attended by a Liga BBVA ambassador, who will join the local LaLiga followers for the big game. Gaizka Mendieta will be making his way to Miami, Christian Karembeu will be heading to Mexico City, Frederic Kanoute will be Beijing-bound and Fernando Morientes will be travelling to Shanghai.
Meanwhile, the city of Queretaro will be the venue for a special match between Barça old boys and Mexican former players, to be played the day before the game proper. This battle of legends, organised by Movistar in conjunction with LaLiga, is sure to be a crowd-pleaser in Mexico, one of the countries where the best league in the world is followed most passionately.
In Miami, with beIN Sports doing the honours as co-organisers, the highlight will naturally be the 90 minutes between the Azulgranas and Los Blancos, but a whole host of activities will be taking place in the build-up. From table-football tournaments to autograph signings by Liga BBVA ambassadors, as well as concerts, there will be plenty on offer.
In China, PPTV and LaLiga have arranged for the match to be screened at 30 cinemas across the country, while the main event will be staged in Shanghai, with Morientes in attendance. Meanwhile, over in the Chinese capital, Kanoute will be commentating on Beijing TV during the match and then on Sunday he will be welcoming dozens of kids at a football clinic.
We encourage you all to make use of the hashtag #ElClasico, which LaLiga, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will be using on their respective official social media channels.
