RCD Espanyol drew 2-2 against Rayo Vallecano on matchday 33 of the Liga BBVA. For the Catalans it was their third league game without a win, moving them to into ninth place with 41 points.
Christian Stuani put the home side ahead in the early stages of the clash following a pass from Sergio García. The home side responded and went after the equaliser, which didn't arrive until just before half time. Iago Falque scored the first goal for the visitors after an individual play from Alberto Bueno. The goal instilled confidence in the Vallecas side going into the second half.
After the break, the visitors went out wanting more and in the 50th minute they had their reward. Nacho hit a cross over the opposing box and Joaquín Larrivey headed it into the back of the net. Rubén Rochina could have sealed the match with two clear chances, but he had no luck in front of goal. In the dying moments, the home side drew on their fighting spirit until Diego Colotto scored to make it 2-2.
