The lottery of a penalty shootout went Chile's way once again helping them to win a second successive Copa America in a re-run of last year's final. Silva made no mistake to bury the decisive spot kick in New Jersey, USA, helping to add a new trophy to sit alongside the one they won in front of their own fans in Chile last year.
The two countries cancelled each other out over 90 minutes and through extra time before arriving at the shootout. There was a large contingent of LaLiga players involved. Argentina's Javier Mascherano, Leo Messi, Matias Kranevitter and Ever Banega ran up against an inspired Claudio Bravo, who shone in goals for Chile.
