The three points picked up by Málaga against Celta Vigo, in a match that kicked off the Liga BBVA matchday 29 action, mean a lot more than just a good day at the office for the Costa del Sol outfit, which can now put its mind to rest after a long and disappointing run of results.
Although it was the Sky Blues who dominated the play during the first half, it was Málaga who made the most of their chances and capitalised on two defensive errors to devastating effect. The visitors scored thanks to the quick thinking of Ignacio Camacho who, first punishing a weak clearance and then a header, scored a brace before half time that would go on to settle the tie.
Luis Enrique changed things around after the break and brought on Rafinha to inject some more intensity into his side. And while the Galicians had various opportunities to close the gap and get something out of the game, Nolito, Rafinha, Charles and company were unable to find the back of the net. Málaga leave Balaídos satisfied having got the required result with time still to go in the Liga BBVA season.
