Javier Tebas visit to Cochabamba concluded with a dinner courtesy of the mayor José María Leyes. The LaLiga president’s agenda was full of events and meetings with political and sports representatives alongside the Bolivian Professional Football League.
Accompanied on this occasion by the Competitions director, Ricardo Resta, Javier Tebas gave a conference to the Higher Council and the Executive Committee of the Bolivian Professional Football League. The president of LaLiga was able to share experiences with the representatives of the clubs in the South American country and explain the main working lines of LaLiga in Spain.
The Club Bolívar and Club Deportivo Jorge Wilstermann de Cochabamba, among others, offered shirts from their teams to Javier Tebas at a lunch that was intended to strengthen relations between the two organisations.
The day was completed with a visit to the Governor of Cochabamba, Iván Canelas. Tebas was accompanied by the president of the Bolivian Professional Football League, Fernando Humérez.
Meeting with the Bolivian media
The LaLiga president answered questions from Bolivia’s sports media at a press conference where he was asked for his opinion on the subject of Joseph Blatter’s resignation. "I have been saying it for many years. It was the time to go. I am very happy about Blatter’s resignation. It is late coming and there are still people left who should resign. Football needs catharsis and new blood".
In the interview Tebas granted to the Bolivian newspaper Los Tiempos, he stated that, "the challenge is that there needs to be change, not a superficial makeover and continuity" and he outlined that the successor should not be anyone who was already in the FIFA executive committee. None of those executive committee members can act as a substitute”.
