It was an evenly matched and attractive clash at El Sadar in the first game of matchday 15 of the Liga Adelante, ending in a 0-0 draw.
Obstinate in the opening stages, Osasuna took control and penetrated the opposition area against a Girona who fell back on one of their best performers of the season, goalkeeper Isaac Becerra. The Iranian Nekounam had the best chance. After a good header from him and Becerra’s nimble response, the Osasuna midfielder sent the ball over the crossbar, with everything suggesting he would make it 1-0.
After the break, Jan Urban’s seemed to lose heart, while Girona, much more comfortable than in the first half, tried to triangulate and move the ball forward to their front men, Felipe Sanchón and Fran Sandaza. However, Osasuna kept trying, like in the 71st minute when Kodro struck the ball inside the area against a defender for the Catalan side when it was heading straight for the net. In the dying moments, with Cedrick Mabwati on the field, the home side stuck to the task, but the scoreline would not budge. With this goalless draw, Girona are top awaiting other results, while Osasuna retain their sixteenth place.
