Baston gets Eibar back on track

A strike from the Madrid-born forward and a Tono own goal saw Eibar overcome Levante 2-0 to put an end to their run of three successive defeats.

Unlucky Deyverson

The opening stages of the first half were even as both sides cancelled each other out, but there was one moment which could have easily turned the game in Levante UD's favour. With just 10 minutes on the clock, Deyverson used his pace to race in behind the SD Eibar backline, but with only Asier Riesgo to beat, his effort flicked off the post and went behind.

A striker with an appetite for goals

Borja Baston is having a season to remember once again. The Armeros striker hasn't lost any of his hunger for goals, going all out in every game to get his name on the score sheet, and he rarely disappoints. On this occasion, he opened the scoring on 37 minutes, turning home a left-wing cross from Takashi Inui. This strike brought his tally to 16 in the current Liga BBVA campaign.

A crazy two-minute spell

On 56 minutes Inui was only a whisker away from doubling Eibar's advantage as the Japanese midfielder tried his luck from inside the box, but Diego Marino got a hand to his effort to turn it onto the woodwork. Only two minutes later, however, a mix-up in the six-yard box culminated in Tono sending the ball past Marino and into his own net. That made it 2-0 to Eibar, a scoreline from which Levante were unable to recover.

Marino keeps the score down

The Granotas custodian was on hand to ensure that the hosts didn't extend their lead any further. Sergi Enrich delivered a cross from the right which was met by Jota Peleteiro, but the Levante shotstopper was equal to his volleyed effort.

Eibar get back to winning ways

Eibar came into the game on the back of three consecutive defeats, but Jose Luis Mendilibar's side succeeded in sending the home faithful away happy. After this result, the Basques' home record reads: seven wins, three draws and three defeats.
