The Nuevo Estadio de San Miguel was packed to the rafters for the grand final of the Iscar Cup, in which FC Barcelona were crowned champions after prevailing in an enthralling, evenly matched game that provided a fitting conclusion to the tournament.
The Azulgranas went ahead thanks to a fine finish from Alejandro Dominguez, who got to a rebound ahead of the RCD Espanyol defenders and put his side in the driving seat. However, the Pericos did not throw in the towel – far from it, in fact, continuing to plug away and getting their reward when Ivan Lamuela smashed a superb volley into the top corner.
Barça did not take long to forge in front again, a foray down the right leading to Alejandro Dominguez notching from close range to make it 2-1. Espanyol kept pushing for a second equaliser right to the end, only to be caught out in the dying seconds when Dereck Lopez scored Barcelona's third goal and sealed glory.
Real Madrid take third spot
The Madrid club edged out Levante UD 2-1 in the third-place playoff to end their campaign on a high. The Valencians took the lead through Mario Gallego's screamer from outside the box, but Los Blancos rallied and turned the game around courtesy of an excellent Adrian Cantero brace.
