Espanyol 2-0 R. Betis Féminas

Las Pericas have really put the pedal to the metal over the final furlong, with this victory stretching their unbeaten run to four and ensuring they will be staying in the division for another year. Goals either side of half-time – from Leticia Sevilla after half an hour and Pilar Garrote on the hour mark – sealed the three points for Espanyol.

FC Barcelona 1-1 Atletico Madrid

The blockbuster bout of the weekend between the two title contenders did not disappoint, with the two teams playing out an engrossing encounter at the Miniestadi in front of a crowd numbering over 6,000 people. Sonia Bermudez gave the visitors the lead by knocking in the rebound after her own penalty had been saved, but fellow hotshot Jenni Hermoso equalised after rounding Lola Gallardo. The result moves Atletico ahead of Barcelona at the top of the table based on their superior head-to-head record, meaning a win for Las Rojiblancas on the last matchday would secure their first-ever Liga Iberdrola title.

Zaragoza CFF 1-3 Athletic Club

The outgoing champions chalked up a convincing victory as they look to end the campaign on a high. Irune Murua put Athletic in the driving seat inside the first 20 minutes and Erika Vazquez doubled their advantage before the break. Zaragoza reduced the deficit in the second period, but Yulema Corres settled the contest in stoppage time.

Sporting Huelva 3-1 Santa Teresa CD

Despite their best efforts, Santa Teresa proved powerless to contain an impressive Sporting side in Huelva. The Andalusians dominated from the outset and cruised home courtesy of strikes from Ana Belen Hernandez, Laura Rus and Cristina Martin-Prieto. A fine finish from Maddi Torre briefly cut the arrears to 2-1 before Martin-Prieto's clincher.

F. Albacete 2-1 UD Tacuense

Albacete came from behind to claim three vital points and climb out of the bottom two, relegating their beaten opponents in the process. Raquel Gil set the cat among the pigeons by firing Tacuense in front in the 55thminute, but Matilde Martinez brought the hosts level just four minutes later and substitute Tomo Matsukawa made herself the hero by notching the winner in the dying stages.

Rayo Vallecano 7-1 Oiartzun KE

The Madrilenians produced a rampant performance to leave Oiartzun reeling and in the drop zone, the Basques' survival hopes now hinging on them winning and Albacete losing next matchday. Although Marina Agoues cancelled out Carmen Maria Alegria's opener, it was all downhill thereafter for the visitors, who were quite simply blown away, with Carmen completing her hat-trick, Natalia Pablos bagging a brace, and Sheila Garcia and Laura Dominguez both striking once.

Granadilla Egatesa 3-0 Levante UD

It was an afternoon of farewells and reunions in Tenerife, with the Ramos twins saying their goodbyes to the Hoya del Pozo crowd – both are set for pastures new next season as they pursue their studies as well as their burgeoning football careers – and Levante's Maria Jose Perez returning to her former stomping ground. As it was, it proved a happier occasion for the young sisters, with both in the starting lineup as Ayano Dozono, Virginia Garcia and Luana Spindler handed Granadilla a comfortable triumph.

Real Sociedad 0-4 Valencia CF

Third-placed Valencia wrapped up the matchday in style with an emphatic victory in San Sebastian. All four goals at Zubieta came in the second half, with Mari Paz Vilas nodding home to open the floodgates eight minutes after the restart. Natalia Gaitan and Marta Peiro were next on the scoresheet, also with headers, before Maria de los Angeles Carrion – better known as Leles – capped her comeback from injury by rounding off the rout in added time.
