Team News:

Real Betis: Juan Manuel Vargas and Cristiano Piccini (both injured).

Match facts

Atletico Madrid (2nd, 67 pts):

- The Rojiblancos are raring for redemption having succumbed to R. Sporting prior to the international break, despite having taken the lead. Antoine Griezmann put Diego Simeone's side in front, but the Asturians turned things around through Antonio Sanabria and Carlos Castro.

- That reverse to Sporting was a rarity inasmuch as it saw Atletico and their safe pair of hands between the sticks, Jan Oblak, concede twice. The Slovenian goalkeeper is enjoying a memorable season in which he has racked up 19 clean sheets in the league, letting in just 14 goals.

Betis (13th, 34 pts):

- The Verdiblancos head to the Vicente Calderon determined to rediscover the winning formula. They lost their last two games, to Malaga CF and Athletic Club, and victory in Atletico's back-yard would be a major shot in the arm.

- Betis have managed a decent haul of 19 points away from home, amassing five wins, four draws and six defeats on their travels.

What's on in Madrid this weekend?

There are always plenty of live shows and productions on offer in the capital. If you know some Spanish or just fancy laughing along, we recommend En verdad os digo (roughly translating as 'Truth be told'), in which the famous stand-up comedian Goyo Jimenez presents his personal take on the world and particularly the many forms of deception to which we are subject. There is a performance on Saturday at 23:30 at Cines Callao.
