"An important matchday; not decisive, but certainly important"

FC Barcelona B – Girona FC (4 pm, Estadio Miniestadi)

A Catalan derby gets another matchday of the Liga Adelante up and running. With very little remaining of the league campaign, there are still plenty of highly valuable points left to play for as these two sides look to achieve their objectives: for Girona, that’s consolidating their automatic promotion spot by increasing their advantage over third place, while for Barcelona it’s all about moving out of the drop zone and avoiding relegation.

Looking ahead to the clash, Barcelona B coach Jordi Vinyals was in no doubt that "there will be respect, but both teams will fight tooth and nail". He added: "Girona are having a magnificent season, they’re very close; but we need a win and, above all, confidence".

RC Recreativo – R Valladolid CF (6 pm, Estadio Nuevo Colombino)

With 32 points, Recreativo sit bottom of the league and are winless in the last four matchdays, and will have to give it all they have to climb the table and bring themselves closer to safety. Up against them are Valladolid, who come into the clash on the back of a home win last time out and aiming to tie down their spot in the play-offs.

According to Joan Francesc 'Rubi', coach of los pucelanos, "a draw will not do them, or us either". He continued: "It’ll be an open game, and the team that comes out on top will be the one that proves itself best able to defend the other side’s attacks and is most clinical when it comes to taking its chances".

CD Lugo – R. Sporting (6 pm, Estadio Ángel Carro)

Sporting make the trip from Gijón to Galicia out to get the three points and keep the pressure up on Girona as they look to snatch second place and automatic promotion from the men from Catalonia, who lie two points ahead of them. However, their opponents will be all out for a victory to ensure themselves a position of comfort in the table.

Abelardo Fernández is readying his Sporting players to face a Lugo outfit "who are in very good shape; a very complete and tough team who are even stronger at home." His side will have to set its stall out "to win, which would leave us third at the very least and would keep us in with a chance. This is an important matchday; not decisive, but certainly important".

CE Sabadell – AD Alcorcón (6 pm, Estadio Nova Creu Alta)

The Catalan outfit are just four points from safety while away side Alcorcón will take to the field with considerably less to worry about; however, that won’t mean they won’t be raring for another win with which to consolidate their position in the standings.

"AD Alcorcón have a good record away from home," declared Sabadell boss Juan Carlos Mandiá, who added that, in the face of this, his team will have to be "more intense and competitive to win". For José Bordalás, coach of the visitors from Madrid, the aim is "to reach 59 points as soon as possible". However, he conceded that his side take on opponents "in need of points who have improved significantly".

CD Leganés – UD Las Palmas (8 pm, Estadio Municipal de Butarque)

The opening day of the Liga Adelante matchday 37 action closes out with a clash that sees Las Palmas travel to Madrid. The Canary Islanders go to the Spanish capital seeking a win that would consolidate their spot in the play-offs for promotion to the Liga BBVA. They are hosted by a mid-table Leganés outfit who want to avoid any nasty late-season surprises and will be out to confirm survival.

According to Las Palmas coach Paco Herrera, this game will be "the most important of the six that we have left". He went on: "We have to win if we want to go up automatically. It’ll be a really demanding, really tough, really difficult match".
