AD Alcorcón and R. Sporting drew 0-0 on matchday 39 of the Liga Adelante. Although the Asturians enjoyed good chances to tip the balance in the second half, the Madrid outfit put in a highly solid performance as stalemate prevailed.
Amid windy conditions, both sides played out a first half in which intensity was to the fore and, despite chances being few and far between, Alcorcón did carve out the game’s first opportunity through David Rodríguez. Los alfareros’ top scorer tried his luck with a low drive in the early stages, but his effort was comfortably saved by Iván Cuéllar. And with the first 45 minutes drawing to a close, Carlos Carmona came close to scoring for Sporting in a one on one with Javi Jiménez that saw the hosts’ keeper produce a fine stop.
The pattern of the game did not change overly in the opening exchanges of the second period, with both teams turning to their benches in search of solutions. But Sporting began to gain ground as the minutes passed, ending up penning their opponents in their area as they sought victory. Carlos Castro had an attempt on the half-turn saved by Jiménez, but the clearest chance did not come until time added on when Isma López could have won it for los rojiblancos. However, his shot hit the crossbar to ensure that the encounter finished 0-0.
