A flying start for Athletic
The home side made a fast-paced start to the game and put the visitors under real pressure in a frantic opening. They would only be made to wait until the 11th minute before opening the scoring through Aritz Aduriz. The Athletic number 20 gobbled up a loose ball in the area to put his team into the lead, before doubling his tally in the 31st minute with a towering header from a Markel Susaeta cross.
A special farewell
The whole San Mames faithful took to their feet in the 18th minute to give Carlos Gurpegui a standing ovation in the number 18's final appearance for Athletic, after 15 years of fine service in the first team.

Youngster breaks his duck
A resurgent Sevilla were quick out the blocks in the second half and managed to quickly halve the arrears, with youngster Juan Muñoz notching his first Liga BBVA goal from a Curro assist. Despite a few promising openings, Sevilla's comeback did not eventually materialise in a fiery contest.
Raul Garcia sealed the win
Athletic made sure of the three points in the 71st minute, when Raul Garcia put away a Susaeta cross. The Basque outfit made the most of RC Celta's slip-up at Atletico Madrid (2-0) and leapfrogged the Galician side on the final day to finish fifth in the Liga BBVA.
