The box is an area with heavy traffic. If you are a forward, you know you won’t get to many touches in this area of the field, maybe two or three strokes, four or five at best. And what way might that be? Because it is not going to be easy a control between defenders.
For this reason, control the game with a few touches is one of the keys to being the offensive reference of any team. And within this field, whoever rules the heading game, the one who only needs a touch, has many options to succeed as a '9'.
Aduriz and Llorente are good proof of that.
With his goal against Villarreal, Fernando Llorente equalized Aritz Aduriz as the active player of Liga BBVA that has scored more times with a header. Up to 41 times one of his headers has finished in the opponent's net.
In the case of the Sevilla player this data is particularly striking, since he has achieved almost half of his goals in this way: 41 of the total of 84, that is, the 49% of his goals.
On the other hand, not inconsiderable the Aduriz´s ratio, which records a 36% of headers (41 of his total of 117).
