Real Betis – R Valladolid CF (12:00, Estadio Benito Villamarín)
Two historic Liga BBVA clubs kick off Sunday's round of matches. Separated by just one point, the two teams with fight for a victory that, as well as giving them the three points, would mean a huge injection of morale. Both sides have recently beaten their direct rivals, Betis beating Girona and Valladolid seeing off Sporting. Betis boss Pepe Mel hopes his side can replicate their performance against Girona: "This is the way we need to play against these types of opponents, we went out raring to go and we can’t do anything different on Sunday."

UE Llagostera – D. Alavés (16:00, Nou Municipal de Palamós)
These two teams are separated by very little in the league table - just one single point. Llagostera have just had an impeccable February, winning three and drawing one. The Basque outfit meanwhile are desperate to put together a similar run to their opponents, as coach Alberto López admitted: "We were very critical of ourselves after losing to Sabadell because we weren’t able to string together two wins. The players are very motivated, really looking forward to the game and very optimistic about getting some good results."

SD Ponferradina – Girona FC (17:00, El Toralín)
Ponferradina have been struggling to find consistency of late but sixth place is still a realistic objective and they are three points off it. In order to get back into sixth they’ll have to beat Girona, who are third place in the table and will be looking to take advantage of the fact their direct rivals at the top of the table are facing each other. "This is a vital weekend because if we win we could go top of the table, we have so much to gain and very little to lose," said the coach, who also made it clear that his number one aim this season was survival.

This matchday is all about the fight for promotion with two stand-out games: Betis-Valladolid and Sporting-Las Palmas

RCD Mallorca – R. Zaragoza (18:15, Iberostar Estadio)
The Aragon side visit the Balearic islands with the aim of moving holding onto sixth spot. The hosts' coach Miquel Soler underlined the importance of the game. "This is a match against a team fighting for promotion and statistics tell us that we haven't beaten any of the teams at the top of the table," he said. His opposite number Ranko Popovi
meanwhile talked up Mallorca’s strengths: "They are a very well organised team and are very good in defence. They are a competitive team that is strong physically and full of quality."

R. Sporting – UD Las Palmas (19:00, Estadio El Molinón)
After losing 3-0 to Valladolid last week, Sporting host the league leaders Las Palmas, who are one point ahead of the Asturians. The Canary islanders have gone two games without winning, after draws with CD Tenerife and AD Alcorcón. Their coach Abelardo gave a rallying cry to the team's supporters ahead of the match. "This is an important game, they are the league leaders and if we beat them we'll go above them in the league table and we could even return to the promotion spots."

AD Alcorcón – RC Recreativo (21:00, Santo Domingo)
Sunday's round of games ends with a match between two sides full of confidence after picking up wins in their last league games. Alcorcón won a Madrid derby with CF Leganés, while Recreative won their first match in 13 games. Recre coach José Manuel Pavón explained how his players have been lifted by that win over Racing. "After watching the team train I am very hopeful about the next game, the players are playing with a lot of energy, especially after our last victory."
