A turning point for Córdoba and Espanyol

The two teams need to win to get their seasons on track: the Andalusian side will be looking for their first victory, while the Pericos will be keen to continue their good form.

A first win of the season will be Córdoba CF's aim on matchday six of the Liga BBVA, when they host RCD Espanyol, who themselves claimed their first victory in the last round against Getafe CF and go into the clash in high spirits.

Team news

Albert Ferrer will be without Deivid, José Carlos, Carlos Caballero, López Silva and Eduard Campabadal, through injury, while Abel Gómez, Mike Havenaar and Ryder Matos have been left out of the squad. However, the team’s striker, Fede Cartabia, returns to the matchday line-up. Espanyol go into the game with almost all their players available, with the exception of Paco Montañés and Víctor Álvarez, both with hamstring problems.

Thoughts from the dugout

Aware that the Catalan side have never won at Córdoba in the Liga, manager Sergio González wants to be prudent and approach the game like any other: "We're going up against an opponent that will give it everything because they need to. We’d be wrong to think it was going to be easy". The Andalusians are yet to win a game this season, but Ferrer spurred his men on before the game: “We have been through difficult situations in the past and we have learned that the only way to overcome them is to look forward”.
