This Thursday, the Hotel Meliá Castilla hosted a seminar against match fixing in the sport organised by the State Lottery (LAE) in collaboration with The European Lotteries and the Institut de Relations Internationales et Estrategiques (IRIS).
Under the title 'Which international networks in the European Union fight against match fixing?', experts from various disciplines of Spanish sport and international bodies debated the fight against match fixing in sport.
On behalf of the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, Manuel Quintanar, director of the Department of Integrity, gave a speech explaining the most recent initiatives in the fight for the prevention of fraud in football. "At the LFP we try to promote, where we can be heard, better legislation", said Quintanar.
Regarding to the fight against match fixing, the LFP's representative underlined the technical deficiencies of article 286 bis/4 of the Criminal Code, calling for "better administrative management for the reconciled". In addition, he reminded those present that the LFP and the AFE carry out educational work regarding sports associations and listed some initiatives that could help prevent this kind of abuse, proposing reforms for the good of keeping sport clean.
