- He was born in Guadalajara, the capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco.
- The Mexican goalkeeper has a special relationship with the number 13. Despite usually being considered unlucky; it is the number that Ochoa wears at Malaga. He was also born 30 years ago on Friday 13 and made his World Cup debut on Friday 13 June 2014.
- He has been to three FIFA World Cups with Mexico and was allocated the number 13 shirt at all of them.
- He was the first Mexican footballer to be shortlisted for the FIFA Ballon d'Or, in 2007. He received one vote and finished in 30th place.
- He was handed his professional debut by legendary manager Leo Beenhakker, who coached Real Madrid CF many years ago.
- He had to wait for his Liga BBVA debut and, despite joining Malaga in the summer of 2014, did not feature for his club in the league until March 2016. An injury to Carlos Kameni during the game against RC Deportivo on 5 March gave the Mexican his chance to shine.
- In addition to three World Cups, Ochoa has also made the Mexico squad for three Gold Cups, one Copa America, one FIFA Confederations Cup and one Olympic Games, in Athens in 2004.
- He was one of Mexico's standout players at the Brazil World Cup. He was man of the match in two of his country's games at the tournament: the 0-0 draw with Brazil in the group stages and the 2-1 last-sixteen defeat to the Netherlands.
- He has over 2 million Twitter followers, making him one of the most followed Mexican footballers on the popular social network.
- Despite this being his fifth season in Europe, Ochoa has not yet taken part in European club competition.
