Rayo Vallecano striker, Seba Fernández, will have to undergo an operation after “a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus in his right knee”, according to a statement on the club's website on Tuesday.
The South American player, who joined the side trained by Paco Jémez this season, had to be substituted an hour into the team's clash with Valencia CF on the seventh matchday of the Liga BBVA, and subsequent medical examinations have confirmed the worst case scenario for the player's injury.
A recovery time is yet to be specified for the midfielder, although everything points to him being sidelined for the next few months. The Uruguayan is the second player in the Madrid team to be affected by this type of injury after the ruptured cruciate ligament suffered by José Carlos in the first Liga BBVA match.
