LaLiga's integrity department evaluates the 2017/18 season with the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling

Official Statement

LUN 22.10.2018

LaLiga's integrity and security department and various representatives from the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) held a meeting to examine the cases that have been raised by LaLiga regarding football matches contested at various levels where bets could have allegedly been made by players of different clubs last season. Under Law 13/2011, the footballers in question would have faced bans.

LaLiga's director of integrity and security Florentino Villabona, DGOJ director general Juan Espinosa, DGOJ deputy director general Cecilia Pastor, head of the Service for Global Investigations into the Betting Market (SIGMA) Myriam Corral and head of investigations at DGOJ Urbano Cisneros analysed the model for protection for and the battle to clean up football which is being implemented by LaLiga's integrity department.

During the meeting, an extensive report on LaLiga's integrity programme over the 2017/18 season was presented, including details of its various stages: Prevention, Monitoring and Alerts, Investigation and Complaint. All the milestones reached in those three fields in youth football, along with both the professional and amateur games, were also released. (*)

As for the current campaign, LaLiga informed the DGOJ of seven alerts that it has detected in fixtures played in Segunda Division B (five matches), Tercera Division (one match) and the second tier of the women's game (one match).
