LALIGA, through M.O.O.D, the tool that monitors the conversation on social media about sport in Spain, found that 82% of the 813,000 conversations logged on MD11 were related to ELCLÁSICO. That also saw the M.O.O.D index drop by two points compared to the previous matchday.
The first Clásico of the new LALIGA era not only brought with it new developments in graphics and broadcasting, but also M.O.O.D, the tool that monitors the level of hate speech and racism on social media relating to LALIGA, had its first release in ELCLÁSICO this season. It came back with a score of 6.5 points, which is a reduction not only from last matchday (8.5), but also from this same game last season (6.6).
The incident involving Vinícius, which generated 8,000 conversations about racism where the predominant emotion was anger, failed to dampen a Clásico that recorded more than 50,000 positive fan conversations. Within those comments, more than 2,300 rated the swift action taken by FC Barcelona and LALIGA.
In the previous matchday, the M.O.O.D score reached an all-time high of 8.5 points. The racist incident by a Sevilla FC fan at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán against Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior led to around 40,000 conversations about racism in 48 hours. The predominant emotions of users were rejection and shame at what happened at the stadium, where 70% condemned what happened and supported the swift action taken by Sevilla FC and LALIGA.

M.O.O.D was launched as part of the LALIGAVS project. Via this platform, LALIGA collects reports, suggestions and requests from fans attending matches with the aim of contributing to the fight against discrimination in stadiums. Furthermore, LALIGA has been calling for more powers to combat this problem for years.
