A complaint by LaLiga to the National Police Centre for Integrity in Sport and Gambling (CENPIDA) has opened an investigation into the alleged match-fixing in a Copa del Rey first round match between CD Huracán Melilla and Levante UD played in December 2021 with a score of 0-8.
LaLiga received information from an anonymous whistleblower through the email integridad@laliga.es created in 2015 by the Security and Integrity Department.
As a result of receiving this information, LaLiga reported the facts to the CENPIDA and an investigation was opened in the Court of Instruction No. 2 of Melilla, which is still ongoing, and in which statements have been taken from six people, all of them linked to CD Huracán Melilla. Levante UD, for its part, remains completely unaffected by the facts under investigation.
The anonymous information received through the whistleblowing portal demonstrates the confidence that exists in the work of LaLiga's Integrity and Security Department, in collaboration with the Police and the relevant bodies, in detecting and reporting possible cases of match-fixing in Spanish football, regardless of the category and competition in question.
LaLiga would like to remind everyone that the email address integridad@laliga.es is part of the whistleblowing system, which can be consulted via this link, and is available to all those who wish to provide information anonymously on any type of event that could affect the integrity of the competition.
